Texel is the largest and westernmost of the Dutch Wadden Islands. It is part of the province of North Holland and lies just four kilometers from the mainland. Oosterend: Considered the island's most beautiful village, thanks to the historic facades and picturesque lanes surrounding the Maartenskerk (St. Martin's Church). Oudeschild: A fishing village right on the Wadden Sea, where authentic shrimp trawlers can still be seen in the harbor today. Den Hoorn: Known for its romantic church with a white tower and its historic whalers' cottages.
